How to combact overload & still enjoy your blackberry

Author: Brian Ludwig - Tour guide owner

I was saying in the previous post that I love taking people out on my tours. I wanted to share with you all, how i do it with sanity juggling a business, balance a family life, as well as making sure my clients needs are served without me burning out in the process? First of all, I am writing these weeks post from a humid climate of Vietnam. I have a Mac book pro and the godsend is the kensington expert mouse pro which works automatically on my Mac no problem, how does any one ever live without a track ball I do not know. I did not go to public school that is probably why I am an entrepreneur. My grandpa was an field engineer and he took me with him everywhere he went. So he always taught me to finish my projects on time and not be late, this explains

Just to slow myself down so I can enjoy writing this guide on how to manage your blackberry devices so it doesn't end up controlling your life, I decided to mouse using my left hand, this is a very new feeling. I am very much enjoying it! Did you know I read in a readers digest that the average office worker received and sends 108 emails a day, this is a very interesting number because, I just started chanting Om Tara Tu Tara So Ha, in order to do it right you have to chant it 108 times. So my advice is if you are checking your emails in the in between moments chant sayings like: Alleluia, Praise God, send compassion to all sentient beings. Did you know how many wasted hours are dwindled because people have to answer those emails, this is why if it wasn't for blackberries we would never leave our desk side.

Now, I don't propose you sit there and try to go through 108 emails on a cell phone with only a numeric keypad, I would do it with a blackberry, if you don't like blackberry, try the T-mobile dash or HTC tilt, 2 other outstanding consumer rated QWERTY keyboard phones that is like you have your own tiny little computer on the go. Let say you have deleted all your 108 emails on your blackberry, you can still be reached while waiting in line for a cup of tea, off hours. Yes, owning blackberry will add more productivity during long commutes, but there is a price you have to pay

A wise old lady I knew once told me, Brian, you are well off, you have been able to do well enough in your business you can retire before 45, that is unheard of in my era, your blackberry is sure helping you reach clients world wide, the downside of always being accessible to your boss, clients, kids, is you become a slave to your own wealth. You are out right addicted to your business and blackberry. You don't even have time to watch your kid grow up?

a 2007 survey done by APA (American Psychological Association) found 48% of Americans feel their lives have become more stressful in the past 5 yrs

What the survey showed is that the major feed that was stressing many americans out was how their work, or being called on their cell phones or checking on their blackberry was encroaching on their personal family time.

Come back tomorrow if you have time to read my rest of this blog entry, thanks, good night!
