Dirty Dozen Ugliest and Lamest Cell Phones
There is one website to note if you are an avid internet surfer and a cell phone owner. Have you ever heard of WML search? This is a browser especially for cell phone devices. To test it out please go to http://www.google.com/wml. Not only will this browser work on cell phones, it will work on smart phones and other pocket PC devices as well. Remember in the previous article, you can go to http://www.google.com/XHTML, IF YOU want to search on your Pocket PC? As with any cell phone which has media & Internet surfing capabilities, you can search for anything in google on your cellular phone. The only down fall is that it downloads less information than if you were viewing a webpage using http://www.google.com/XHTML technology.
The obvious reason is that a cell phone LCD screen is even smaller in size to a Pocket PC or Palm OS device. If you were to view the Pocket PC magazine home page on your tiny little cell phone, you would have to hit next page 5 times to see the entire page.
Did you know that WML breaks up the home page in 14 sections
Each section of the page fits on one cell phone screen, if you don't want to develop short sightedness like most Asian teenagers where according to an optometrist that 60% will have short sightedness text messaging each other before they turn 18. In order to view the entire home page, you have to keep hitting more button. If you are not using Verizon V Cast high speed or Cingular's EDGE data wireless service, you may be waiting a long time for each page to load.
There is a special feature in google. Hit options on the mobile google home page. Select and search for mobile web websites. This makes the download process a lot faster. However, not many websites out there is formatted to your cell phone. This will be short lived
Ken McCarthy Says Mobile Ready Websites Will Be Positioned To Prosper
A friend of mine spoke at this conference the systems seminar and there were lots of buzz about people or affiliate marketers building a mobile ready phone. Most internet affiliates don't have budgets like Amazon, CNN to pay out $20,000 for a mobile version of their website. I happen to know Drupal and I know there are modules that you can download onto a drupal website that will give you a simple mobile site with the navigation and images stripped. The second best option for many people with a very low budget is by paying mofuse $200.00 a month to have your Blog rss feed available on smart phones and iphones. You will get google map, your rss feed but that's it. There are so many people that are not aware of the complexity of building a mobile website. Many people go the very low budget way and hire someone at rent a coder. There is nothing wrong with that. If you hire a guy from a third world country who doesn't really know how a mobile Content mgmt system works and this is where a lot of people who have spent over $1,500 are in. There is no real answer at this point as Google already has a mobile search engine. The first people to build a mobile site will be the first ones to rank. Kim at mobilemarketingprofits gave an excellent presentation, she is the only person on the planet that knows as much about mobile marketing I wish her the best in success and hope she had a great mother's day celebration!
