Gadget collectors often wind up with a new appreciation for what they own after sitting down with Rene Tse, the technical writer for Free-Cellular-Phone-Deals.com. Take a lesson from Rene Tse, don’t blame yourself for impulse gadget buys. The world of Internet marketing, bill board advertising devotes itself full time to tricking you to open type in your Visa or Mastercard after clicking the add to cart button.
I purchased a deck of tarot cards and did a spread for hot gadget trends this season in 2010, I have identified 1 Gadget / Service that are highly hyped and I believe you really don’t need it. Here is what you don’t need to buy this year:
GPS Standalone Units.
You really don’t need a TOM TOM One XL, Garmin nuvi, Magellan Maestro 4040. These GPS systems range from $125 to $300. You are steering your car in the middle of a farm land with moos moos grazing grass. When global positioning system devices first came out, everyone had to go out and buy one.
You Really Don’t Need A GPS Unit To Mount On Your Car
Cut throat competition has made it easier for the consumer to pick up a low price GPS unit. But I say why do you need another gadget when you can use your: Blackberry, Droid by Motorola, Android Google Device.
Did yoU know that AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless & Sprint All Offer…
Some kind of GPS system on GPS capable phones? In fact, we specifically created using Drupal Views a page where you will find GPS enable phones some are free, some come with an upfront cost. Click here - > http://www.free-cellular-phone-deals.com/phones/gps
Directionally challenged folks like me would really appreciate that Verizon Wireless VZ Navigator service is only $10 a month of $2.99 for each 24 hour period. AT&T, Sprint also charges around $10 a month for their GPS service. For Verizon Customers, you will need to also upgrade to a combo voice-data plan to get that $10 a month price. For instance, if you do not have the single line voice-data plan, you may be charged an additional $2 per megabyte data usage fee.
The GPS devices mentioned above are easier to use and are often more accurate than cheaper units. I really like Droid by Motorola’s touchscreen, where I can easily enter my destination, then a small map pops up highlighting my trip with arrows of where I need to turn. I especially like Verizon Wireless place messaging service. I can easily share the location of tonight’s dinner and ask my friends to join me, it is so convenient to send the address and directions to my friends.
The Only Disadvantage Is…
On a flip verizon phone, the cell phone screen will not have the same real estate as Garmin NUVI 260 with it’s 3.5 inch screen.
Should You PAY extra $2,500 For Built In GPS System For Your Car
- Better reliability
If you lose your cell phone signal, the built in systems such as gyroscopes and sensors is able to measure your steering and speed when tracking your location
- Less Chance Someone Will Steal
Your built in GPS system. The built in GPS system goes in lock down mode when someone tries to remove it from your car. A new code is required to unlock it and power it back up.
- Big Screen
Built in GPS LCD Screens come in 6.5 to 8 inches. The larger the screen the easier it is to see your digital map. You don’t have to squint your eyes to see where you need to go next. The larger buttons are ideal for my sumo fingers because it is easier for me to operate the built in GPS system.
For an additional $70 a month you can get traffic reports, however, I don’t recommend this as this is not yet reliable. Turn on your local radio station and get traffic updates every 10 minutes instead. Save the extra $70 a month for now.
